Russia has been the world’s largest sugar beet producer for several years. But how is this crop harvested in the country’s fertile chernozemic soil regions, and what agricultural machinery is used during the harvest? This film documents the harvest and logistics at a range of agricultural businesses of various sizes and even includes footage shot inside a sugar factory. The documentary additionally shows the sunflower harvest and a large number of tractors during soil cultivation and winter cereal sowing works. A special highlight are insights into the production of tractors at the famous Kirovets factory in St Petersburg.
