This three-part video series takes you to the major agricultural regions in southern Russia, Siberia and the chernozemic soil regions in the world’s largest country. The two filmmakers Jörn and Tammo Gläser have long been renowned for their exciting, independent video documentations on agriculture and agricultural technology all over the world. For this documentary, they travelled thousands of kilometres across Russia’s rural regions between St Petersburg, Krasnodar and Novosibirsk. They visited some of Russia’s largest agricultural businesses and documented vast fields and dozens of agricultural machines in action during spring sowing and the cereal and sugar beet harvest, presenting viewers with an exciting range of camera angles and aerial shots. An extensively researched voiceover provides agricultural background and interesting information on old Soviet technology by Kirovets and Kharkiv as well as modern, high-powered agricultural giants such as John Deere and Case IH. Rare footage was shot on dairy farms, in sugar factories, grain stores and the Kirovets and Rostselmash agricultural machinery factories.
